Hearing next week in case over Massachusetts tribal casino

Tuesday, April 2, 2013

A federal judge delayed a hearing into a lawsuit that asks the Massachusetts Gaming Commission to solicit bids for a non-Indian casino.

The hearing was due to take place tomorrow but attorneys couldn't make it, The Cape Cod Times reported. So it's been rescheduled for Thursday, April 11.

K.G. Urban Enterprises, a non-Indian developer, says tribal preference provisions in the state's gaming law violate the U.S. Constitution. The company also says the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe faces too many hurdles in its quest for a casino.
