The
Little Traverse Bay Bands of
Odawa Indians will build a second casino in Mackinaw City, Michigan, in phases.
The first phase features a modest 5,000 square-foot casino with up to 65 slot machines. The tribe plans to spend $2.5 million on the structure.
As part of a five-year development, the tribe envisions a larger facility with up to 400 slot machines, The Cheboygan News reported. A hotel with 130 rooms is also in the works.
For now the tribe is still developing plans for the initial phase. Village Manager David White said he received a letter from the tribe indicating that work has just begun with an engineering firm.
The tribe's Class III gaming compact authorizes two casinos but local approval is required. Mackinaw City has not yet approved the facility
