Enterprise Rancheria still hopes to open Class III gaming facility

The Enterprise Rancheria still plans to open a Class III facility on trust land in California, a spokesperson said.

The tribe signed agreements to share revenues with Yuba County and the city of Marysville. But it's not clear whether the requirement extends to the Class II facility that the tribe now plans to open because a Class III gaming compact remains in limbo.

"Given the sensitive nature of the litigation, unfortunately the tribe is not in a position to respond to questions about its casino plans at this time," a spokesperson told The Marysville/Yuba City Appeal-Democrat.

The tribe is planning to build a 10,000 square-foot facility on a portion of a 40-acre site that was placed in trust by the Bureau of Indian Affairs in December 2012.

"The Temporary Facility will be strictly limited to Class II gaming, and therefore will not require a tribal-state compact," a notice filed in federal court states.

Local officials have said they won't oppose the Class II facility but they are wondering whether the tribe will share revenues from it. The city of Marysville already claims it is owed $100,000 because the land is now in trust.
