The Cachil Dehe Band of Wintun Indians, also known as the Colusa Indian Community, is claiming at least $38 million in damages and expenses from shoddy work performed at its casino.

Opinion writer Harold Kruger of The Marysville / Yuba City Appeal-Democrat reviewed court filings in a long-running yet slow-moving case that was filed in April 2011. The tribe claims $17 million in construction damages plus $18 million in damages and lost revenues from an expansion of the Colusa Casino Resort that was completed in 2005.

Kruger did not identify the defendants, who were the contractors on the project. But one of them is Hunt Construction Group, which said it was involved in a $15.7 million project that included a hotel.

Hunt is listed as a defendant on the Sacramento County Superior Court's list of complex civil cases. A pre-trial conference is set for September 18, with a trial due to start on October 19.
