Enterprise Rancheria pledges to live up to gaming agreements

The Enterprise Rancheria of California is moving forward with a permanent Class II casino and local officials want to know whether they will see money promised by the tribe.

An agreement with the city of Marysville calls for an up-front payment of $100,000. Officials there believe the money is owed because the Bureau of Indian Affairs placed the land in trust in December 2012.

A separate agreement with Yuba County promises a one-time payment of $697,120. But the provision appears to kick in once the tribe actually starts construction on the casino.

Whatever the interpretation, the tribe "remains committed to its agreements with Yuba County and Marysville," a spokesperson told The Marysville/Yuba City Appeal-Democrat.

According to a document filed in federal court, the tribe will build a 105,750 square-foot casino on 40 acres in Yuba County.
