State opposes Poarch Creek Band on Class III

The state of Alabama is fighting efforts by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians to offer Class III games.

The state refuses to negotiate a Class III compact. So the tribe asked the Interior Department to authorize the games under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.

Alabama attorney general Troy King is asking DOI to deny the tribe's request.
