Indian Gaming Mag: Latest developments and more

Wednesday, July 5, 2006

The July 2006 issue of Indian Gaming Magazine provides updates on some of the hottest and most controversial topics in Indian gaming.

Two articles focus on the new Class II regulations issued by the National Indian Gaming Commission and the Class III legislation proposed by the Department of Justice. The Bush administration is seeking ways to limit the types of games that tribes can offer without state approval.

A third article describes several pending amendments to the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act that would restrict the ability of tribes to acquire new land for casinos. While most of the bills have yet to see a hearing, one bill sponsored by Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) has been sent to the Senate floor.
