Eastern Shawnee Tribe eyes another casino site

Monday, June 27, 2005

The Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma is eyeing Stark County as another possible off-reservation casino site, The Akron Beacon Journal reports.

The tribe likes the county due to its population, location and tourist attractions. Three or four sites are being reviewed but none have been selected.

The tribe has already signed casino and land deals with four other towns. A group called National Capital I has lined up about 50 investors from Ohio to finance the casinos, The Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports. The investors paid anywhere from $10,000 to $50,000 each in exchange for future potential revenues.
