Friday, June 17, 2005

Members of the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma voted 53-50 on Saturday to approve a $20 million gaming expansion plan.

The money will be used to buy land for a new casino. The tribe is negotiating with individual Indians to obtain properties.

The money will also be used to add 30,000 square feet to the tribe's existing casino in the McLoud area. Restaurants, a hotel and recreational vehicle hookups are planned.

Tribal casinos in Oklahoma generated nearly $1 billion in revenues last year, according to the new Indian Gaming Industry Report.
