A bill to authorize a state-tribal casino in the Twin Cities was defeated by a Minnesota Senate committee on Monday but supporters and opponents say the fight is not over.
The White Earth, Leech Lake and Red Lake bands of Ojibwe want to open the urban casino to help their communities. But tribes with successful casinos in the Twin Cities oppose the deal, saying it would hurt their businesses. Both sides will continue to push for and against the project.
