Osage Nation caught off-duty police officer stealing casino ticket

A former police officer is being accused of stealing a cash ticket at an Osage Nation casino in Oklahoma.

According to The Cleveland American, Anthony Russel Shouse was caught on surveillance video taking a ticket out of a machine at the Osage Casino in Sand Springs. He then cashed it out for $750 and left the facility, the paper said.

Shouse worked for the police department in Cleveland, Oklahoma, but was not on duty at the time of the May 11 incident. He has since resigned, The American reported.

Anthony Russel Shouse is facing a misdemeanor charge, according to online court records in Oklahoma.

"Officer Shouse informed me on Thursday, May 25 that he was the subject of a criminal investigation by the Osage Nation Police Department," Chief of Police Clint Stout said in a statement to the paper. "Officer Shouse was immediately placed on unpaid leave and resigned the following day."

The city of Cleveland, which is located in Pawnee County, is about 27 miles from the Sand Springs casino in Osage County, where Shouse has been charged with a misdemeanor.
