The Seminole Tribe took in $2.3 billion at its casinos in the fiscal year that ended in June 2016, according to Nick Sortal of SouthFloridaGambling.Com.
Based on data submitted to the state, Sortal was able to calculate how much each tribal casino generated. The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa, for example, took in $967 million, the largest amount, followed by $579 million at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood.
The $579 million alone was more than the eight non-Indian pari-mutuel facilities in South Florida generated during the same period, Sortal noted. Overall, the figure represented an increase of about $100 million from the year prior, according to Sortal. That roughly corresponds with an amount made public by the Politico news organization last year, when the tribe and the state were locked in litigation over Class III gaming. A federal judge found that the state violated the exclusivity provisions of the agreement.
