POSITION: Controller

STATUS: Full Time

JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Morongo Chief Executive Officer, and Tribal Council, plan, organize and direct the Tribe’s overall financial policies. Oversee all financial functions including accounting for Tribal Government and all Tribal Enterprises, budgeting, financing, grants management, insurance, audit and treasury; coordinate and direct personnel, communications and record-keeping functions to meet tribal accounting needs and assure smooth and efficient fiscal activities; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS: Three or more years experience as a Controller or equivalent and five additional years increasingly responsible accounting experience involving the review, analysis, maintenance and adjustment of a variety of funds, budgets and accounts. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in both a governmental and private-sector environment.Certified Public Accountant.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required; MBA preferred.


Note: Tribal members, spouses of tribal members, tribal children, and other Indians will be given priority status in the selection process. Current employees must be in their department no less than 180 days before they are eligible to transfer into another department. Only employees with a satisfactory work history will be considered. All potential employees will be required to go through a background investigation, which may include a criminal background check as permitted by state and federal law and a drug screen.
