The Native American Fish and Wildlife Society (NAFWS) is seeking a dynamic individual to join the NAFWS staff as Education Coordinator. The Education Coordinator serves under the guidance and direction of the Executive Director (ED). The Education Coordinator is responsible for coordination, development, recruitment and enhancement of the NAFWS education endeavors, with a strong focus on the Native American Environmental Awareness Summer Youth Practicum.
Education and building the next generation of Tribal fish and wildlife professionals is important to the NAFWS’ mission to assist Tribes to conserve, protect and enhance their tribal natural resources. We seek a team player to join our staff to implement the Summer Youth Practicum and assist in building our education endeavors.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Environmental or Natural Sciences is preferred or education and/or experience equivalent. Knowledge of tribal governments, treaties, agreements, policies, and issues regarding management of fish and wildlife resources; familiar with federal contract procedures and policies; experience in pursuing non-traditional funding; strong written and oral communications; and ability to work effectively with tribal, federal, and state agencies, academia, special interest groups and the general public.
Experience with educating youth in the outdoors is desirable, training needs development, public speaking, proficiency with office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Must like outdoor activities and camping.
This is a part-time position at approximately 30 hours/week with pro-rated benefits after a probationary period of 90 days and will be extended to full-time as funding permits. Salary is commensurate with experience, education and work history.
Expected salary range (hourly rate) would be $18-$24/hr.
