Leech Lake Tribe responds: 'We Are Not Lost'

The Leech Lake Ojibwe Tribe of Minnesota held a forum this week to respond to The Minneapolis Star Tribune's series on the "lost youth" of the reservation.

The "We Are Not Lost" forum drew 200 people over two days, the paper reported. Most people credited the series with exposing the problems youth face but many also said there was not enough focus on the positive.

Attendees came with ideas to address substance abuse, violence and other problems. Many called for a return to more traditional ways, the paper said.
