New BIA building in New Mexico named for Domenici

A new Bureau of Indian Affairs building in Albuquerque, New Mexico, was dedicated on Wednesday.

The Pete V. Domenici Indian Affairs Building is located on land held in trust for the 19 Pueblos. The tribes, through an economic development arm, are leasing the property to the Interior Department.

The building houses the BIA and parts of the Office of Special Trustee, which recently opened another building in Albuquerque. The site, across from the All Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, also houses the BIA's new National Indian Programs Training Center.

The building is located in downtown near an interstate. The site was the old Albuquerque Indian School.
