National
North Dakota tribe accused of neglecting cemetery

Metis descendants say the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians has neglected a Metis cemetery in North Dakota.

Over the objections of Union Nationale Metisse, a Metis group, the tribe was given control of the 10-acre site in 2001. Now the group says the tribe has failed to take care of the cemetery and organized a cleanup.

Some Metis descendants are members of the Turtle Mountain tribe.
