Chief Seattle Club raising $5.3M for new home

The Chief Seattle Club is well its way to raising the $5.3 million needed to build a new home to serve American Indians and Alaska Natives who are down on their luck in Seattle, Washington.

The club currently leases a building but will have its own home once an old hotel is completely renovated. So far, $4.3 million has been raised from donors like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and other private sources.

A Jesuit priest founded the center in 1970 to help Natives suffering from homelessness or alcoholism.
