First Nation to look into industrial waste dump

The government of Canada has awarded $56,000 to the Poundmaker Cree Nation to consider building an industrial waste dump on off-reserve treaty land.

The feasibility study will look at placing the oil dump on Treaty Land Entitlement property. The study will be completed by the fall.

Tribal member Tyrone Tootoosis says he welcomes the jobs that might be created by the development but is worried about the environmental impacts.
