Ray Leonard Patencio, a longtime leader and elder from the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, joined the Palm Springs Walk of Stars last week.

At a March 15 ceremony, Patencio, 60, was honored with the 267th star on the walk. His star is located at 400 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, near the tribe's casino hotel in downtown Palm Springs.

Patencio served 10 years as chairman of the tribe, as chairman of the Agua Caliente Gaming Commission for 11 years and as chairman of the Agua Caliente Election Board for six years. He first joined the tribal council in 1967 at the age of 21.
