Denver March Powwow draws 55,000 over weekend



The 32nd annual Denver March Powwow drew 55,000 people over the weekend.

The powwow, held at the Denver Coliseum, started on Friday. More than 1,400 dancers from tribes across the U.S. and Canada took part, with some competing in 30 traditional and contemporary categories.

"The purpose of a powwow is to celebrate life through dance and friendly competition Howard Bad Hand, the former chairman of the powwow, told The Denver Post.
