City cites two men for open fire at sweat lodge

The city of Dayton, Wyoming, issued citations against a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe and a non-Indian for having open fires at a sweat lodge.

Terry Richards and his non-Indian friend John Maronick Jr. were cited for violating the city's open fire ordinance. But Richards, who has hired an attorney, says the city violated his religious freedom.

Maronick said he built the fire in hopes of complying with the city's ordinance. But the mayor said he didn't get approval for the sweat lodge.
