John Mohawk, Haudenosaunee scholar, found dead


John Mohawk, a member of the Seneca Nation, was found dead in his home in Buffalo, New York, on Tuesday. He was 61.

Mohawk was a noted Haudenosaunee scholar and author. He was a regular contributor to the Indian Country Today newspaper.

"He educated native people about who we are and why we're still here. He's a great loss to us," said Tadodaho Sid Hill, a Haudenosaunee spiritual leader said, The Syracuse Post-Standard reported.
