Rosebud Sioux Tribe links fatal stabbing to teen gangs

A fatal stabbing of a girl on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in South Dakota is being linked to gang activity.

The 15-year-old girl died Friday, January 26. Two 14-year-old girls have been arrested in connection with the incident and their case has been handed to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Rosebud Police Chief Charles Red Crow said all three girls were members of rival girl gangs. A recent survey showed 70 active gangs on the reservation, he said.

The girl's death came just days after a teen committed suicide. Two days later, another teen committed suicide.
