Native group blocks road in western Quebec

A group of Native protesters has blocked a road in western Quebec, saying the government went back on its promise to allow them to harvest trees.

The Confederation of Aboriginal People of Canada set up teepees, heavy equipment, barrels and logs across the highway on Monday night. The group wants Natives who don't live on reserves to be able to log trees.

The group is also concerned about living conditions off the reserve. Some of the protesters used to live on the Barriere Lake Algonquin First Nation but left in 1996.
