Pit River chairwoman seeks to regain powers

The chairwoman of the Pit River Tribe of California is trying to regain the powers that she lost last fall.

Jessica Jim still holds the title of chairwoman but the council stripped her of several duties, citing financial mismanagement. One council member called her style of management a "dictatorship."

Jim responded by calling a meeting on Saturday in which several council members were reportedly voted out by tribal members. Her powers were also restored at the meeting, which a tribal official said was illegal.
