Inupiat village not affected by series of quakes

There have been 11 earthquakes near the Inupiat village of Kaktovik but almost no one felt them.

"Everything is too frozen solid to shake," Mayor Lon Sonsalla told The Anchorage Daily News.

The earthquakes started on Saturday and continued through Tuesday. The largest registered 4.45 on the Richter scale.

But residents only found out about the tremors through the radio or the Internet. We're like, 'Nothing's shaking,'" the mayor said.
