Political-themed Native art show opens in DC

"American Icons Through Indigenous Eyes," a political-themed show featuring the works of 12 Native artists, opens tonight at the DC Arts Center..

The show was curated by activist Suzan Shown Harjo. She asked the 12 artists to submit new or existing works that address political or national issues.

"I wanted to curate a show that would expose Washingtonians to unfiltered views of some Native people outside D.C.," Harjo says.

The show opens with a reception tonight. It runs through May 6. Get the Story:
