Alaska Native man starts semi-pro football team

An Alaska Native man in Connecticut has started a semi-pro football team.

Jeff Hurlburt, whose family is from the village of Tyonek, owns, manages and plays for the Middletown Spartans. The team is part of the New England Football League, the largest semi-pro football league in the country.

Hurlburt, 27, grew up in Connecticut and played football in high school and college. He decided to form his own team after playing for another NEFL team.

Hurlburt hopes his team is successful but he's also planning a move to Alaska, where he wants to become a teacher. He is a full-time graduate student in physical education at Central Connecticut State University.
