Honor the Earth concert aimed at Navajo power plant

The Grammy award winning duo Indigo Girls will headline a concert on May 22 to help Navajo activists oppose a proposed power plant in New Mexico.

The concert is being organized by Honor the Earth, the environmental organization founded by Winona LaDuke. It takes place at the Phil L. Thomas Performing Arts Center in Shiprock, New Mexico.

The Indigo Girls and Honor the Earth are raising funds to help Navajos who are fighting the Desert Rock power plant. The duo says the tribe should examine other forms of energy development.

The Indigo Girls will perform at another Honor the Earth concert in Flagstaff, Arizona, on May 22, to support Native communities.
