Arraignments for Shinnecock Nation drug raid

Eighteen people were arraigned on Wednesday in connection with drug trafficking on the Shinnecock Nation in New York.

Three men were called the ringleaders of the drug ring. Awan Gumbs, the son of a tribal trustee, allegedly took cocaine from the other two men and distributed it on the reservation.

The other 15 were arraigned on various charges. They include people who live off the reservation.

The arrests were made last month after a major investigation. Tribal leaders had asked the state to look into drug trafficking on the reservation.
