North Dakota tribal college funding bill signed

North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven (R-North Dakota) signed House Bill 13-95 into law on Thursday to provide state funding to tribal colleges.

The bill allocates $700,000 over a two-year period for the state's five tribal colleges. The money will be used to cover the cost of non-Indian students.

The federal government helps cover funds for students who are enrolled tribal members. The colleges have been shouldering the costs of educating non-Indians alone.

Hoeven called the bill an investment for all of the state's citizens.
