Agua Caliente Band plans development

The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians signed a deal to develop 210 acres of tribal and individual land in an area known as Chino Cone.

The tribe agreed to develop the land with Shadowrock, whose proposal for a hotel, golf course and homes has drawn opposition. The Agua Caliente land is adjacent to the land held by Shadowrock.

Chino Cone is considered one of the most picturesque sites in the Coachella Valley. Opponents have blocked Shadowrock from moving forward with its project but won't have much sway over development on Agua Caliente land.
