WWII documentary to include Native, Hispanic vets

Filmmaker Ken Burns has agreed to re-edit his World War II documentary to include segments on Native American and Hispanic veterans.

Burns left out the two groups in his upcoming series "The War." Hispanic groups complained and PBS agreed to add segments about Native and Hispanic veterans.

Hispanic groups, however, were upset when they learned Burns hadn't agreed to change the actual film and that the segments would have been shown during breaks in the broadcast or at the end of the broadcast. Burns finally agreed to re-edit the series, which debuts in September.

About 80,000 Native American men and women served in the military during World War II, according to government figures.
