Warm Springs veterans post to move to new home

The Veterans of Foreign Wars post on the Warm Springs Reservation in Oregon is moving to a new home.

The original veterans' headquarters, which was built by the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1949, fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1977. So VFW Post 4217 has been operating out of a small space inside a youth activities building.

That will change now that the Warm Springs Tribes have promised a new home for the veterans. The Elliott Palmer Post, named for tribal member who served in World War II, plans to move in the next few weeks.

The tribe has about 20 active members in the military.
