The Lake County Tribal Health Consortium in California is under fire for the dismissal of a popular doctor.
The consortium, which serves seven tribes in Lake County, recently fired Dr. Tony Veletto. The move has tribal leaders and members concerned about the loss of one of their most prized physicians.
"He's the best thing that ever happened to that place. I don't know what I'll do if Dr. Veletto don't come back," Shirley Valadez, a member of the Robinson Rancheria said, The Lake County Record-Bee reported.
The tribes met Wednesday night to discuss the firing. They plan to stage a protest at the clinic next Wednesday.
