San Luis Rey Band expects thousands at powwow

The San Luis Rey Band of Luiseño Indians of California holds its 11th annual powwow this weekend.

The tribe expects thousands to attend the event in Oceanside. "It's a way to tell people the San Luis Rey Indians are still here," vice chairman and secretary of the San Luis Rey Indian Foundation, told The San Diego Union-Tribune.

The powwow features dancers, vendors and a performance by bluesman Tracy Lee Nelson of the La Jolla Band of Luiseno Indians.
