Floods hit Crow, Northern Cheyenne reservations

Residents of the Crow Reservation and the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Montana have been hit by heavy rains and flooding.

The Crow Tribe declared the entire reservation a disaster area after flooding washed out roads and damaged crops and homes. The tribe is seeking federal assistance and the Indian Health Service says groundwater could be contaminated.

The Northern Cheyenne Tribe was also hit last week and flooding continued to threaten the reservation as of Monday. The last time the water was so high was in 1978, The Billings Gazette reported.
