The Seneca Nation sent the state of New York a $2.1 million bill for every car that has passed through tribal lands in the last two months.
The tribe charged $1 for every car on the State Thruway. That came to about $28,000 every day, officials said.
"Please remit full payment to the attention of the nation's fiscal department within 10 days," the tribe's bill stated.
The tribe revoked approval to host the Thruway amid attempts by the state to imposes taxes on the reservation.
Officials are considering erecting toll booths on the highway.
