Fire continues to burn on reservation in Utah

The Neola North Fire has consumed more than 34,000 acres in and around the Uintah and Ouray Reservation in Utah.

The fire is still under investigation but officials rejected claims that a tribal member stopped it from being put out. Nevertheless, some said fire crews were slow to respond because it started on the reservation.

"They lost lives. They lost homes. To me, that's not right," said Ruby Atwine, The Deseret Morning News reported. "It's discrimination from these white people not looking out for us."

More than 700 firefighters are battling the blaze, which has been 10 percent contained. Kim Martin, the incident commander for the Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team, said it could take months to completely extinguish the flames.
