Lytton First Nation blocks highway for two hours

The Lytton First Nation of British Columbia erected a blockade on the Trans-Canada Highway for two hours on Wednesday afternoon.

Band members erected the blockade to protest the removal of ferry service from the reserve to a nearby village. They said they would block the highway again, or block a rail line, if B.C. doesn't restore service.

Without the ferry, an estimated 400 band members have to take a four-hour detour over logging roads or an illegal walk over a dangerous bridge, the Canadian Press reported.
