Senate field hearing on Indian health in Montana

The Senate Indian Affairs Committee holds a field hearing today on Indian health.

The hearing takes place on the Crow Reservation in Montana. It was convened at the request of Sen. Jon Tester (D-Montana), said Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-North Dakota), the chairman of the committee [Letter to Tribes]

“In much of Indian Country, access to health care and the delivery of health care services can only be described as being in crisis,” Dorgan said “The top priority of this committee is renewing and strengthening the Indian Health Care Improvement Act, which the Senate will consider, after long delay, this session.”
