Unrecognized tribe cites 10K immigrant recruitments

The leader of an unrecognized tribe in Kansas says more than 10,000 immigrants have been recruited for membership.

The Kaweah Indian Nation is part of a federal investigation into the sale of membership to Mexican nationals. Two people have been arrested in Kansas in immigration-related offenses.

The tribe sought recognition but was rejected by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
