Mother charged for leaving baby at Wal-Mart

A 21-year-old woman has been charged for leaving her baby in a bathroom at a Wal-Mart in Saskatchewan.

The woman, who has not been identified, was seen on video entering and exiting the store on May 21. An employee later found the baby in a bathroom stall.

The woman came forward after news of the incident. Her baby, a boy, was turned over to the Indian Child and Family Services agency on the Lac La Ronge First Nation.

The woman will be named September 13 when she makes her first court appearance. She is charged with child abandonment.

The Wal-Mart store is located in Prince Albert, a city near several reserves.
