Eastern Cherokees head to polls on Thursday

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in North Carolina will go to the polls on Thursday.

incumbent Principal Chief Michell Hicks is facing a challenge from Patrick Lambert. incumbent Vice Chief Larry Blythe's opponent is Teresa McCoy

Hicks says he wants to improve the tribe's school system and pursue more economic projects. Lambert wants to improve services for tribal members.

All 12 council seats are also up for grabs.
