San Ildefonso Pueblo governor charged with rape

San Ildefonso Pueblo Gov. James Robert Mountain has been placed on administrative leave after being charged with rape.

Mountain, 35, allegedly raped a former girlfriend, who is the mother of their two children, on Monday. The incident occurred at Mountain's mother's home in Albuquerque, about 85 miles south of the pueblo.

Mountain, his former girlfriend and others had been drinking, according to police. Mountain has struggled with alcohol problems, according to The Santa Fe New Mexican.
