Catawba Nation to hold first meeting since election

The Catawba Nation of South Carolina holds its first meeting on Saturday since electing new leaders in July.

New Chief Donald Rodgers wants as many tribal members as possible to attend. "I'm trying to get back to the surface. We've got a lot to do," he told The Rock Hill Herald.

The agenda includes a discussion on a proposed bingo hall in Marion County. The county commission has approved the plans.

Rodgers is the tribe's first new chief in three decades.
