Havasupai pleads guilty to murder of tourist

A 19-year-old member of the Havasupai Tribe of Arizona pleaded guilty to murdering a tourist in the Grand Canyon.

Randy Redtail Wescogame admitted he stabbed Tomomi Hanamure, 34, a tourist from Japan. The crime occurred last May, when Hanamure went to the reservation during her trip to the Grand Canyon.

Wescogame was charged with first-degree murder, robbery and kidnapping. The murder charge was reduced to a second-degree murder and the other charges were dropped under a plea agreement.

Wescogame will be sentenced January 14, 2008.
