Montana governor names Indian coordinator

Montana Gov. Gov. Brian Schweitzer (D) named a new coordinator for the state's Office of Indian Affairs.

Jennifer Perez Cole, 30, is a member of the Assiniboine Tribe from the Fort Belknap Reservation. She has been working in the journalism field since her graduation from the University of Montana in 2001 and is currently the editor of the Fort Belknap News, the newspaper of the Fort Belknap Indian Community.

"Jennifer Perez Cole has the background to make this office effective for government-to-government relations," Schweitzer said. "A true partnership will enhance our ability to help tribes in Montana grow their economies, educate their children and develop their communities."
