Indian Land Working Group to meet on Oneida Nation

The Indian Land Working Group is holding its 17th annual Indian Land Consolidation Symposium on the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin.

The meeting takes place October 30-November 2 at the tribe's Radisson Hotel & Conference Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Attendees will discus land-into-trust, rights-of-way, probate and other land use issues affecting Indian Country.

The Senate Indian Affairs Committee recently held a hearing to address backlogs in land-into-trust, probate and other applications at the Interior Department. Assistant secretary Carl Artman said the probate backlog will be cleared by the end of 2008.
